Rokan Hilir Police (Polres Rohil) have deployed dozens of personnel from the Operational Control Assistance (BKO) to several police sub-stations deemed vulnerable to forest and land fires (karhutla). This step is intended to strengthen the handling of karhutla. A total of 16 BKO personnel from Polres Rokan Hilir have been assigned to Pujud Police Sub-Station to reinforce field personnel in extinguishing and cooling karhutla incidents. Meanwhile, 19 other personnel have been assigned to Tanah Putih Tanjung Melawan Police Sub-Station (TPTM), and an additional 3 personnel have been sent to Rantau Kopar Police Sub-Station. Kapolres Rokan Hilir AKBP Isa Imam Syahroni stated that this measure represents the readiness and commitment of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in preventing and addressing karhutla quickly and in an integrated manner. The addition of personnel at the sub-station level is expected to improve the effectiveness of patrols, early detection, and the handling of extinguishing and cooling efforts. β€œThe Rokan Hilir region, dominated by peatlands, has a high vulnerability to karhutla. Therefore, we are strengthening personnel at the sub-stations under our jurisdiction so that prevention and mitigation efforts can be carried out to the maximum,” said AKBP Isa on Friday (27/3/2026). In addition to extinguishing fires, field personnel are also actively providing warnings to the public not to clear land by burning and not to discard cigarette butts carelessly, which can trigger fires. Polres Rokan Hilir is also calling on all elements of society to jointly protect the environment and immediately report any fire points or karhutla incidents through the Polri Call Center 110 service. With synergy between authorities and the community, it is hoped that the potential for karhutla can be minimised, so that the environment remains preserved, public health is protected, and economic activities are not disrupted.
