Rokan Hilir (Rohil) Police Chief Senior Commissioner Isa Imam Syahroni personally led a patrol operation to secure the 2026 Chinese New Year celebrations, conducting checks at several temples to ensure worship proceedings ran smoothly.

The patrol was carried out on Tuesday morning (17 February 2026), accompanied by Deputy Police Chief Commissioner Rikky Operiady and senior officers of the Rohil district police. During the operation, the police chief surveyed a number of crowded locations and places of worship in Bangko sub-district using both four-wheeled and two-wheeled patrol vehicles.

The dialogic patrol targeted several major places of worship, including the Ing Hok Kiong Temple (Pekong Tua) and the Ce Kong Tuah Temple. At these locations, the police chief interacted directly with temple administrators and worshippers to ensure conditions remained conducive.

“Our primary objective is to ensure the entire series of Chinese New Year celebrations, from the eve festivities through to worship activities at temples and viharas, proceed safely, smoothly and peacefully,” said Senior Commissioner Isa Imam Syahroni.

In addition to monitoring places of worship, the Rohil police joint team also surveyed locations considered vulnerable to public order disturbances. The patrol’s key focus areas included preventing serious property crimes such as burglary, robbery and vehicle theft, as well as thuggery and illegal street racing.

The police chief emphasised the importance of the public’s active role in maintaining a conducive environment, urging residents to immediately report any suspicious persons or activities in their vicinity to the police.

Through the dialogic approach, the presence of Rohil police leadership on the ground proved effective in providing a sense of calm for Chinese-Indonesian residents celebrating their major holiday. By the time activities concluded at 11.00 Western Indonesian Time, conditions in Bangko sub-district and surrounding areas were monitored as safe and under control.

“This intensive security operation is a manifestation of the Indonesian National Police’s presence among the community, creating a harmonious celebration atmosphere and upholding tolerance in Rokan Hilir Regency,” he concluded.
