The race was held to fill a positive role during the holy month of Ramadan and to promote a healthy lifestyle among young people. The event took place at 21:30 WIB on Jalan Kelenteng, in front of the In Hok King Temple, in Rokan Hilir Regency, on Saturday, 7 March.
The event was attended by dozens of participants and watched by around 700 members of the public. Present at the event were Bhayangkari Branch Chair Fikih Isa, Rokan Hilir Police Deputy Chief Kompol Rikky Operiady, Bhayangkari Branch Vice Chair Queen Rikky, Bangko Sub-district Head Aspri Mulya, Bangko Police Chief Kompol Buyung Kardinal, and other senior police officials of Rokan Hilir.
AKBP Isa stated that the Night Run provides a positive outlet for youths to channel their energy and talents in sport. He added it’s also a preventive measure to deter negative activities, such as illegal street racing.
“Usually evenings are associated with hanging out and even street racing, but tonight we have shown that the youths of Rokan Hilir are cooler than that. We have gathered for positive activities through healthy and sporting endeavour,” he said in a statement on Sunday, 8 March 2026.
He also added that the event supports the programme of the Riau regional police chief and forms part of the police’s efforts to maintain a safe and conducive public order and safety (kamtibmas) during Ramadan.
Meanwhile, Rokan Hilir Deputy Regent Jhony Charles expressed appreciation to the Rokan Hilir Police for initiating positive activities that involve the wider community, especially the youth.
“On behalf of the Rokan Hilir Regency Government we thank and commend the Rokan Hilir Police for initiating this Night Run. May such activities continue because they benefit the community,” Jhony said.
