Rodents in antigraft rally at police HQ

JAKARTA: More than a dozen rats -- often used here as a symbol for corruption -- were employed by students on Monday during an antigraft rally at National Police Headquarters.

Students from several universities in Jakarta threw some 15 white rats, each tagged with the names of allegedly corrupt top police officers, into the building. The policemen on guard did not react to the maneuver.

"We demand a thorough investigation into various graft cases at the National Police," said one student demonstrator.

The police are seen as one of the most corrupt institutions in the country.

Afterward the demonstrators moved toward the office of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to continue with their antigraft rally. -- detik.com
