Robig Zaenudin, the Sacked Police Officer Who Killed Gamma, Tests Positive for Drug Use in Prison
Convicted in the case of the shooting of SMKN 4 Semarang student Gamma Rizkynata Oktafandy, Robig Zaenudin has been transferred from Semarang Class I Prison to Nusakambangan Prison. The transfer was carried out because Robig is suspected of controlling drug distribution from inside the prison. He was also proven to have consumed drugs while incarcerated. Head of Public Relations for Central Java Police, Senior Commissioner Artanto, revealed that on 19 January 2026, the Narcotics Directorate of Central Java Police, along with the Central Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, conducted an inspection at Semarang Class I Prison. “Then during that examination, Robig was found to be in an unstable condition or the individual was in a labile state,” Artanto said when interviewed at Central Java Police Headquarters in Semarang City on Friday (24/4/2026). Observing the oddity in Robig’s condition, officers then searched his detention room and conducted a urine test on him. “It was found that Robig tested positive for drugs,” Artanto stated. Nevertheless, Artanto added, the search results did not uncover drugs or other prohibited items such as mobile phones or gadgets in Robig’s detention room. “However, his labile physical symptoms raised suspicions from both the police and prison authorities regarding the individual. Therefore, a urine examination was immediately conducted,” he said. Artanto stated that the case is still under investigation by the Narcotics Directorate of Central Java Police. “Whether the individual is acting as a distributor or as a user, this is being thoroughly examined by the Central Java Police Narcotics Directorate, and we are awaiting the results of the investigation,” he said.
