Public prosecutors have demanded a prison sentence of 14 years for Brigadier Rizka Sintiyani in connection with the death of her husband, Brigadier Esco Faska Rely. “Sentencing the defendant to imprisonment for 14 years, reduced by the time the defendant has spent in detention,” stated prosecutor Muthmainnah at the Mataram District Court on Tuesday evening (9/6/2026). In her demand, Muthmainnah stated that Rizka was proven to have abused Esco, resulting in his death, based on Article 44 paragraph (3) of Law No. 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence, in conjunction with Article No. 38 of the first appendix to Law No. 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments. “Declaring the defendant Rizka guilty of committing the criminal act of physical violence within the domestic sphere resulting in the death of the victim Esco Faska Rely, as per the prosecutor’s first charge,” she said. In the demand, the public prosecutor also considered aggravating and mitigating factors. The aggravating factor is that the defendant is a law enforcement officer. “The defendant did not admit her actions and provided convoluted testimony during the trial,” the prosecutor noted. The mitigating factors cited were that Rizka has two young children who need a mother figure, and that she has no prior criminal record. Rizka is a defendant in this case alongside four others: Siaun, Nuraini, Paozi, and Dani Rifkan. Brigadier Esco was found dead in a shocking state in the garden behind his house in Nyiur Lembang Hamlet, Jembatan Gantung Village, Lembar District, West Lombok, on 24 August last year. The intelligence officer from Sekotong Police Station was first discovered by Saiun. At that time, Brigadier Esco’s body was in an advanced state of decomposition, with a severely damaged face and a rope tied around his neck under a tree. Initially, the discovery of the body was suspected to be a case of suicide by hanging. However, based on the results of the inquiry and investigation, the West Lombok Police subsequently named five people as suspects. The first person named as a suspect was Brigadier Esco’s wife, Briptu Rizka, followed by the four other suspects.
