Rizal Ramli reported to police

JAKARTA (JP): Former company president of state-owned general
insurance firm PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Jasindo) Amiruddin
Riayat filed a defamation complaint on Saturday against Minister
of Finance Rizal Ramli.

A police report faxed to The Jakarta Post on Sunday stated
that Amiruddin had filed the complaint, based on what Rizal had
said against the former management of PT Jasindo in a hearing
with the House of Representatives' Commission IX for banking and
finance on July 5.

Citing a report at Koran Tempo daily, Amiruddin said Rizal had
made some baseless accusations against Jasindo's old management.

According to the daily's report dated on July 6, Rizal gave
his reasons at the hearing into the replacement of Jasindo's
management, one of which was "the misuse of authority".

Those who were replaced included Amiruddin.

Brig. K. Kurniawan, an officer at the City Police who took
down Amiruddin's report, confirmed the case to The Jakarta Post
and said that Amiruddin had filed the police report on Saturday.
