The strengthening of risk management has increasingly become the primary focus of the national insurance industry amid rising threats from natural disasters and global economic uncertainties. A risk modelling-based approach is considered crucial for maintaining company resilience while ensuring optimal protection for society.

This issue emerged in the series of MAIPARK Award 2026 events, which brought together national insurance industry players to discuss risk management strategies and industry capacity building. At the event, BRI Insurance received the award in the Best General Insurer for Equity Category Above Rp2 Trillion category.

The award was presented in Jakarta on Thursday (7/5/2026) and was directly received by BRI Insurance’s President Director, Budi Legowo. This recognition reflects the company’s performance in maintaining business quality while strengthening its risk management system as the foundation for the sustainability of the insurance industry.

Budi Legowo stated that this award serves as motivation for the company to continue improving the quality of protection and strengthening resilience against various risks.

“Receiving the award as the insurance company in the Best General Insurer for Equity Category Above Rp2 Trillion category motivates BRI Insurance to further strengthen its performance quality, so it can continue to maintain its best performance and also contribute to providing protection in the event of unexpected occurrences such as earthquakes, accidents, and all other risks that can happen anywhere and anytime,” said Budi in a press release on Monday (11/5/2026).

In the series of activities, a presentation titled “MAIPARK Catastrophe Modelling to Determine Underlying Retention for Insurer and Reinsurer” was also held, highlighting the importance of catastrophe risk modelling in determining retention capacity for insurance and reinsurance companies.

A data-based and risk analysis approach is considered increasingly important as the frequency of disasters increases along with the complexity of modern risks.

Through this award, said Budi, BRI Insurance will continue to strengthen risk management and provide adaptive protection for society.

Regarding performance, BRI Insurance recorded positive results up to the end of the third quarter of 2025, booking gross premiums of Rp3.12 trillion and net profit of Rp467 billion. Amid economic dynamics and the implementation of new accounting regulations, the company was still able to maintain a profit margin of 15 percent and an underwriting yield of 31.23 percent. Including profit margin, loss ratio, underwriting yield, return on equity (ROE), and combined ratio, these were recorded above the industry average. This affirms the quality of performance and consistent risk governance.
