Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public mobility at the start of 2026 continues to rise, with increasing connectivity between regions. Trains are integral to various activities, from daily commutes and Eid al-Fitr homecoming trips to mobility during extended holidays.

From January to March 2026, KAI Group served 128,055,072 customers, a 9.97% increase compared to the same period in 2025, which saw 116,451,006 customers. This growth opens up broader interaction spaces between customers and various economic activities in station areas.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that the increased mobility also presents opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) actors to develop.

“The continuous influx of customers creates opportunities for local business actors to reach a wider market. KAI provides business spaces at stations so that MSME actors can grow alongside the ongoing travel activities,” said Anne.

In various regions, such as Cipeundeuy Station, KAI provides business spaces for MSMEs to conduct their operations directly in areas with high customer traffic. This situation offers consistent access to potential consumers every day.

For MSME actors, being at the station opens opportunities to introduce products to customers from various regions. Direct interactions help build trust, strengthen local product identity, and encourage improvements in quality and innovation.

In addition to market access, MSME actors also receive space to develop business capacity through various mentoring programmes. KAI implements the Micro and Small Business Funding Programme (PUMK), which provides financing access to support business sustainability.

KAI also introduces the KAI Creative Space programme through Teras UMK, which opens marketing opportunities in strategic locations and increases product visibility. Business actors can sell directly to customers while building closer interaction experiences with consumers.

Through the KAI Exhibition programme, MSME actors are facilitated to participate in various exhibitions at regional, national, and international levels. This opportunity expands business networks and opens access to larger markets.

To date, KAI manages 490 mentored partners spread across various operational regions. The presence of these mentored partners demonstrates how railway activities can connect with community economic development in various areas.

“Through business spaces at stations, financing access, and promotional facilities, KAI continues to open opportunities for MSME actors to develop and strengthen their businesses. We want the growth in mobility to be directly felt by the community through increased economic activities,” Anne concluded.
