Riau Police Search Suspected Drug King's House in Rohil Previously Protested by Residents
A joint team from the Riau Provincial Police’s Narcotics Directorate and the Rokan Hilir Police Resort searched a house suspected to be a drug den in Panipahan, Rokan Hilir Regency, which had previously been protested by residents. Satpol PP was also involved in the search, witnessed by RT and RW officials. Rokan Hilir Police Chief AKBP Isa Imam Syahroni stated that the search aimed to verify circulating information amid the community and to anticipate any acts of vigilantism that could harm all parties. “We urge the public to remain calm and not be provoked. Leave the handling entirely to law enforcement authorities,” said AKBP Isa Imam on Tuesday (14/4/2026). The search, conducted on Monday (13/4) around 23:05 WIB, was also witnessed by the local penghulu and community figures. It followed residents’ unrest and issues regarding the site’s alleged involvement in narcotic activities, which had previously sparked potential anarchic actions from the public. During the operation, officers examined the entire house to confirm the presence or absence of narcotic evidence or other items related to criminal acts. The search results showed no narcotics or similar items found in Agim’s house. This addressed the community’s previous suspicions about the location. “The results found no drugs,” he said. Additionally, as a preventive measure to curb potential mass actions and maintain a conducive situation, the police installed a police line. Rokan Hilir Regency Satpol PP sealed or placed banners at the site previously suspected as a drug transaction location. This step was taken so that the public knows the site has been officially inspected by authorities. The search activity ended around 23:50 WIB. Throughout the process, the situation was monitored as safe, orderly, and conducive without significant disruptions. With the quick actions from the police and related agencies, it is hoped that security and public order in the Panipahan area will remain maintained, and public trust in law enforcement will increase.
