Riau Police Force Provides Free Vehicle Parking Facilities for Homebound Travellers
The Riau Regional Police Force (Polda Riau) has arranged a free vehicle parking service for residents who will travel to their hometowns during the Eid al-Fitr holiday season. This service is provided at no cost whatsoever.
Kombes Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, Head of Public Relations for Polda Riau, stated that the free vehicle parking service follows the directive of Riau Police Chief Irjen Pol Herry Heryawan and implements orders from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
“This free vehicle parking service is one form of the Indonesian National Police Force’s service to the community, particularly those undertaking the Eid al-Fitr homecoming journey,” said Kombes Pandra in a statement on Monday (16 March 2026).
Pandra further explained that the free vehicle parking service also aims to provide a sense of security and peace of mind for residents travelling during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holiday. The vehicle parking service for both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles is available at all police substations and police headquarters throughout the Riau Police Force’s jurisdiction.
“This facility is available at the nearest police offices, ranging from the Regional Police Headquarters to District Police Headquarters across all areas under Riau Police Force jurisdiction,” he added.
“As long as parking capacity at the respective police office remains available, we are prepared to safeguard your vehicles so that your homecoming journey becomes more peaceful,” he continued.
Kombes Pandra emphasised that the vehicle parking service is free of charge. Residents need only deposit their vehicles by bringing photocopies of the vehicle registration certificate and the vehicle owner’s identity card.
“We encourage residents who are travelling home and leaving their vehicles at home not to hesitate in entrusting them to the nearest police office. This service is free of charge,” he stated.
This measure represents a preventive effort by the Indonesian National Police Force to minimise the risk of motor vehicle theft when homes are left unoccupied by their owners. Pandra also encouraged the public to contact the Police Emergency Line 110 if they require police assistance.
“Please contact 110 if you need police assistance. We also encourage residents planning to travel home to ensure that their houses and windows are locked and to confirm that electrical equipment and cooking stoves have been switched off to prevent fires,” he concluded.
