Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan conducted a working visit to the Kuansing Police jurisdiction to personally inspect the construction progress of the Merah Putih Presisi suspension bridge in Muara Petai Village, Pucuk Rantau District. He expressed hope that the 83-metre bridge would help realise the future aspirations of schoolchildren in the area.

The suspension bridge connects Muara Petai Village with Muara Tiu Makmur Village. The bridge had long been in disrepair, with conditions posing a serious safety risk to residents crossing it.

“The primary objective of this bridge construction is to support livelihoods and improve the local economy. But most importantly, this is about helping schoolchildren. We do not want their education to be hindered by damaged and dangerous road access,” Inspector General Herry Heryawan stated firmly at the construction site on Friday (20 February 2026).

The Police Chief added that bridge repairs in Kuansing Regency are planned to cover five locations, divided into two phases. He expressed hope that the project would be completed on schedule and could be officially inaugurated by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Meanwhile, Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby conveyed his profound gratitude for Riau Police’s concern for infrastructure in the remote areas of Kuantan Singingi. He described the initiative as a tangible demonstration of the National Police’s presence amid the community’s difficulties.

“On behalf of the people of Pucuk Rantau, we extend our deepest thanks. The Kuansing regional leadership forum will fully support this programme and continue to work in synergy with Kuansing Police to implement government programmes for the welfare of the people,” Regent Suhardiman said.

Beyond conducting technical inspections, the Riau Police Chief also demonstrated his humanitarian side by distributing books and stationery to schoolchildren in Muara Petai Village. The gesture was met with great joy by students who had long yearned for proper bridge access.

After completing the inspection and visiting the home of a local community leader, the Police Chief and his entourage departed Pucuk Rantau for Kampar Regency to continue with subsequent agenda items.

The construction of the Merah Putih Presisi bridge is expected to mark a turning point for mobility among residents in the Pucuk Rantau area, whilst also serving as evidence that the National Police is fully committed to supporting accelerated development in isolated regions through programmes that directly address public interests.
