“Every conflict dynamic must be addressed with a cool head, prioritising communication and avoiding measures that could worsen the situation,” said Inspector General Herry on Tuesday (17 February 2026).
He also called on all parties to exercise restraint and maintain public order together, using previous experiences in the Bonai Darussalam area as lessons to prevent similar conflicts from recurring.
The Police Chief explained that a collaborative approach between the military, police, local government, and community elements is the primary strategy for maintaining social harmony.
The visit affirmed the state’s presence through the synergy of the military and police in keeping social spaces conducive. Beyond merely monitoring the situation, the Riau Police Chief and Military District Commander also opened dialogue with local government officials, community leaders, and parties connected to the agricultural sector to seek balanced and just solutions.
