Riau Gets Ready Five Ports
TEMPO Interactive, Batam:Five ports around Batam, Bintan and Karimun are being spruced up following the plan to establish a free trade and port zones for certain products. Riau Industry and Trade Office chief Jon Arizal said the ports include Batu Ampar, Sekupang and Kabil.
There will also be 91 specially-designated ports. However, only 30 companies have obtained the license to operate them. As of February 20, Batam, Bintan, and Karimun will be included in the free trade zone. Various products will be able to enter these three areas without having to pay extra duties.
