RI, UNPKF approve border pact
ATAMBUA, East Nusa Tenggara: The Indonesian military and the UN Peace Keeping Forces (UNKPF) in East Timor signed an agreement on the tactical coordination line (TCL) here Wednesday.
The agreement was reached by both parties during their routine meeting at the district military headquarters in Belu.
Commander of the Indonesian Military (TNI) task force for East Timor-Indonesia border Lt. Col. Djoko Subandrio said, after the meeting, the TCL agreement would serve as a guide for both parties to maintain security along the border of the Indonesian district of Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) and East Timor's enclave of Oeccuse.
He said the agreement followed a joint investigation, conducted by the Indonesian military and Jordanian battalion, into the border area of East Nusa Tenggara and Oeccuse.
The investigation was conducted following a land dispute between people in the Indonesian village of Manusasi and the Oeccuse village of Bana. -- Antara
