Bekasi, W Java (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Appraisal Society (MAPPI) said Indonesia will need an estimated 1,000 certified appraisers in 2015 to support national economic growth.
"Right now we only have 330 certified appraisers," MAPPI General Secretary Robinson Tampubolon said on the sidelines of the inauguration of the organization`s branch in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday.
Some of the appraisers worked for public appraisal service companies (KJPP) and MAPPI currently oversaw 108 KJPP, he said.
Appraisers are those certified to conduct independent appraisals based on their competence. Appraisers are divided into two categories : internal and external appraisers.
Internal appraisers are civil servant appraisers working for government agencies. They are appointed by the finance minister to conduct independent appraisals based on their task, authority and responsibilities.
External appraisers are those other than civil servant appraisers. They hold permits as appraisers and are grouped in government-sanctioned associations. Under Government Regulation No. 38 of 2008 and Regulation of the Finance Minister No.125/PMK.01/2008, external appraisers are public appraisers.
Robinson said the government was in the process of drafting a law on appraisers.
Hopefully, deliberations on the bill on appraisers at the House of Representatives (DPR) will be completed next year.
"There is already a draft but several adjustments still have to be made," he said.(*)
