RI to hold expo in Singapore

JAKARTA (JP): An exhibition organizing company is planning a major investment promotion expo involving Indonesian state and private companies in Singapore in September.

Appronusa president Andi Djabir said on Wednesday that 160 companies are expected to take part in the Indonesian Investment Exhibition '99 at The Westin Stamford & Westin Plaza from Sept. 6 to 9.

"The exhibition is not intended as a product-selling show, but is to introduce Indonesian companies seeking foreign partners to help finance projects," Andi told reporters.

Achmad Kurniadi, head of promotion and international cooperation of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), said the government supported the Appronusa initiative in organizing the expo.

Guests at the exhibition are selected companies from the United States, Japan, Singapore and Europe that are individually invited, according to Appronusa.

Foreign direct investment approved by BKPM fell by 60.7 percent to US$13.3 billion in 1998, according to official figures. (02)
