SINGAPORE (AFP): Indonesia beat Thailand while Australia downed Pakistan yesterday in the opening round of the men's team event of the 13th Asian table tennis championships being played here.

Top seed China and archrival South Korea had breezed through the preliminary rounds of the tournament which opened here Wednesday.

China, led by Olympic gold medalist Liu Guoliang and world champion Kong Linghui, dismissed the Philippines 3-0 while South Korea beat Macau by the same score in the men's team event.
