JAKARTA – Following the completion of demolition of 109 monorail pillars along Jalan HR Rasuna Said in the Kuningan district of South Jakarta, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has commenced reorganisation of the area.

The revitalisation of this corridor is targeted for completion coinciding with the 499th anniversary of DKI Jakarta on 22 June 2026.

Field observations show that the road median, which previously separated fast and slow lanes in the direction of Mampang Prapatan, has also been demolished, leaving extended excavations down the centre of the road.

The depth of the excavations at this location varies. Some sections have been concreted, whilst others remain covered with soil or broken concrete from the former monorail pillars.

Approaching Rasuna Said LRT Station, the former median demolition is blocked by concrete barriers on one side. The median excavation extends less than two metres towards Mampang Prapatan and towards the front of Trinity Tower Building.

At several points, iron reinforcement protruding from the remaining monorail pillar structures still awaits complete extraction.

In front of Plaza Festival, the excavation area is only cordoned off by orange traffic cones connected with warning rope. At the far end, the excavation depth is relatively shallower with broken concrete stacked on top.

Meanwhile, portions of the road median up to the point of the final remaining monorail pillar still appear not fully tidied.

Reorganisation is also being undertaken at the end of Jalan Rasuna Said, just before the location of the last monorail pillar. The pedestrian walkway beneath the pedestrian crossing bridge is being demolished.

On the other hand, Kali Cideng, which runs alongside the road, is also being dredged with several heavy equipment machines operating in the vicinity.

Overall, the reorganisation of this area includes improvements and widening of pedestrian walkways, improvements to water channels, road widening, and the addition of green open space.

This revitalisation is expected to improve the appearance of Jakarta’s main business corridor whilst also enhancing user comfort and road safety.
