National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has assured that the return traffic situation for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday is under control following the peak on Tuesday night (24/3). As vehicle volumes decrease, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) are beginning to relax traffic engineering from a national one-way system to segmental one-way. This information was conveyed by General Sigit after inspecting the 2026 homecoming return flow at the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre (JMTC) in Jatiasih, Bekasi, on Wednesday (25/3/2026). General Sigit explained that based on the latest V/C ratio monitoring indicators, the toll road load for the 2026 Eid return traffic has started to decline. This allows officers to reopen some lanes that were previously fully closed for one direction. “Just now, for the Kalikangkung Toll Gate, we are shifting from national one-way, which we will change to segmental one-way. That means, based on the V/C ratio predictions, we are starting to make changes to the engineering,” said General Sigit. The Police Chief stated that based on data, the peak return flow last night recorded a higher vehicle movement record compared to the previous year. A total of 256,338 vehicles entered Jakarta in one night, exceeding last year’s figure of 223,163 vehicles. As of Wednesday (25/3) at 12:00 WIB, the total accumulated vehicles that have returned to Jakarta reached approximately 2.04 million units. “That means, there is still a remainder of about 2.5 million vehicles that left Jakarta. That remainder is our homework to unravel,” said the Police Chief. The Police Chief assured that his ranks, along with all related stakeholders, will remain fully on alert in the field as a follow-up return peak is predicted for 28 and 29 March. To anticipate this, Polri has decided to extend security even though the Ketupat 2026 Operation period ends today. “Polri is currently adding to its operational activities. Because today our operation has ended, we are adding three or four days with intensified routine activities (KRYD). All of this is an effort to ensure the entire return flow is truly maintained,” emphasised General Sigit.
