Response to Trump's Threat: Iran Prepares to Target Middle East Energy Infrastructure and Desalination Plants
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHERAN – On Sunday (22/3/2026), Iran threatened to attack all US and Israeli infrastructure in the Middle East region as a response to Donald Trump’s threats. Previously, Trump had threatened to destroy power plants in Iran if, within 48 hours, Tehran did not lift the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz.
“If Iran’s energy and fuel infrastructure is attacked by the enemy, all energy infrastructure, information technology, and water desalination facilities belonging to the US and Israeli regimes in the region will become targets,” stated the spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters Centre, the body overseeing Iran’s military operations, in a statement quoted by Fars News Agency as reported by Anadolu.
Previously, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also warned that Iran would not remain silent if its infrastructure were attacked. Meanwhile, the Strait of Hormuz has been disrupted due to war since early March and has triggered a rise in global oil prices.
We are men and women of principles. Iranians do not sneak attack adversaries while engaged in dialogue. Only when attacked do we powerfully respond.
We have intelligence on Israeli plans to strike infrastructure. Once again: ZERO restraint if our infrastructure is attacked.
