Resident's House in Sangeh Severely Damaged by Fallen Mango Tree, Losses Reach Rp 50 Million
A house owned by I Wayan Wadi Darma Putra, a resident of Banjar Mulukbabi in Sangeh village, Abiansemal subdistrict, Badung regency, was severely damaged when a large mango tree collapsed during intense rainfall and strong winds on Sunday, 1 March 2026. The bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom suffered severe damage to the roof after being struck by the fallen tree trunk.
“The incident occurred around 02:30 WITA during extreme weather conditions in the Sangeh area. The large mango tree immediately collapsed onto three buildings simultaneously, causing the roofs to collapse,” said Abiansemal Subdistrict Head Ida Bagus Putu Mas Arimbawa.
Total material losses were estimated at Rp 50 million. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Badung’s Rapid Response Team (TRC) from Puspem was deployed to the location to conduct assessments and provide emergency response.
“Officers were at the scene from early morning to evacuate the tree trunk and clear debris. Fortunately, there were no casualties despite the substantial building damage,” said Mas Arimbawa.
The victim’s house currently appears in disarray with a gaping hole in the roof section, rendering the dwelling unsuitable for normal habitation. Despite the severe damage, Wadi Darma Putra and his family chose to remain in the remaining usable rooms temporarily.
“The homeowner has decided to stay because there are still intact rooms beside the damaged sections. The room they are occupying was also affected, but we have helped cover it with two large tarps,” explained Mas Arimbawa.
Response efforts at the scene were also overseen by the village chief, traditional leader, and Abiansemal subdistrict staff to ensure that Wadi Darma Putra and his family’s immediate needs were met. The Badung BPBD urged residents to remain vigilant about the potential for falling trees given the extreme weather conditions that continue to occur in the Badung region and surroundings.
“The work was completed by the team working with village officials and local residents. Our current priority is ensuring the occupants’ safety with the help of tarps to cover the leaking roof sections,” explained Mas Arimbawa.
