BEKASI – The Bekasi Metro Police Department plans to open a free vehicle storage service for residents planning to travel home during Eid 2026.

The head of Bekasi Metro Police, Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro, stated that vehicle storage services will be provided at several locations. “Yes, our plan is to provide storage services, both at the police headquarters and at traffic posts,” said Kusumo when confirmed on Friday (13 March 2026).

This service is intended for residents who will travel home using public transport such as buses or trains, so they need not worry about leaving their vehicles at home.

Meanwhile, the head of traffic police at Bekasi Metro Police, Commissioner Gefri Agitia, stated that residents wishing to deposit vehicles must complete a number of administrative requirements. The vehicle storage process will be carried out by the police infrastructure and facilities section.

Officers will then record vehicle data to ensure security during the storage period. “We will request a photocopy of the vehicle registration certificate, then the driving licence and their personal data (ID card) for completeness when collecting,” said Gefri.

In addition to providing vehicle storage services, Gefri urged residents to ensure their vehicles are in safe condition before embarking on the journey home. He also asked those travelling home to check their vehicles thoroughly, from braking systems to engine condition.

“Before departing, please ensure everything is in order. Then safety equipment such as helmets must be used,” said Gefri.

The police continue to conduct public outreach on traffic safety. However, there are still some motorists who have not complied with regulations. “Sometimes the public still fail to be orderly and do not heed police directions,” he said.

Gefri hopes that this year’s security arrangements for the homecoming travel can run smoothly without obstacles.
