Residents Complain of All-Day Noise from Padel Court in Cilandak: "It Makes Us Lose Focus"
Residents of Jalan Haji Nawi, Gandaria Selatan, Cilandak, South Jakarta, have been complaining about a padel court that generates noise every day. The disturbance is said to have persisted since the facility’s construction in October 2025.
A detikcom observation at the location on Thursday (19/2/2026) found two residential houses directly adjacent to the padel court. The homes are separated from the court by a wall approximately five metres high.
Meanwhile, the padel court building towers higher still, with its upper walls consisting only of a lightweight steel canopy roof with gaps.
A local resident named Naufal (27) said his family had filed complaints multiple times through the JAKI application. However, they felt the reports had produced no tangible results.
“I filed one report in November, one in December, and then in January and February I was submitting three reports a week through JAKI. Because of all these reports we’d already made, we also managed to meet with the facility management on 31 January, but the mediation didn’t produce any results either,” Naufal said when met at his residence on Thursday (19/2).
Naufal explained that the noise from the padel court began during its construction phase and continues to this day from players using the facility. According to him, the noise is frequently heard from morning until late at night.
“There’s shouting, and mainly the sound of the ball, and the shouting goes from 6 am until midnight. But it should be noted that the 6 am to midnight timeframe was during the early period when it was first raised, meaning January to early February. After that, they committed to stopping at 10 pm, but on several occasions we’ve found them still laughing and playing past 10 pm,” he said.
Naufal said that in his neighbourhood, three houses are occupied by his parents, his younger sibling, and his 90-year-old grandmother. Additionally, a neighbour has recently given birth.
“Yes, everyone living here is complaining. We can’t focus during prayers, can’t focus getting ready — even having a bath, we lose focus. Getting ready for the office, we can’t focus. Trying to gather energy for the next day’s work, we can’t focus either. And the stress makes us quick to anger,” he added.
According to Naufal, his mother has experienced a spike in blood pressure, something that has only occurred recently.
“Especially my mother — her blood pressure immediately shot up to 200. That’s real, you know. It’s not just a feeling; her blood pressure can actually be measured at 200,” he said.
