SEMARANG - Residents of Central Java can now pay their annual vehicle tax without having to bring the ID card matching the data on the Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK).

Acting Head of the Central Java Provincial Tax Agency, Muhamad Masrofi, stated that this new policy is expected to provide convenience for the public in fulfilling their tax obligations on time without changing the basic provisions of vehicle ownership and registration.

“This policy provides convenience in paying annual motor vehicle tax, especially for vehicles that have not yet been re-registered, while still adhering to principles of caution and administrative order,” he said, quoted from Kompas.com, Saturday (9/5/2026).

One of the main requirements is to attach a vehicle ownership declaration letter.

In that letter, the taxpayer declares their willingness to carry out the vehicle re-registration process in the following year.

“A form is provided, namely first the blocking of the vehicle in 2027, and also a commitment to re-register the motor vehicle in 2027. Only then will there be no need for the ID card for now,” he explained.

The declaration letter becomes a mandatory document when validating the STNK or paying annual motor vehicle tax in Central Java.

In addition to the declaration letter, taxpayers must also bring several original supporting documents, not photocopies.

However, it should be noted that this policy only applies temporarily until December 2026.

Moreover, this policy does not apply to vehicles with number plates from outside Central Java (non-Central Java), BUMDes Samsat services, Corporate Samsat, or the Signal application.

The process of paying tax without the previous owner’s ID can be carried out at all Samsat offices in Central Java.

This policy is expected to make it easier for the public to fulfil their motor vehicle tax payment obligations while increasing vehicle administrative compliance in Central Java.
