Request Granted, Government to Promptly Execute Sultan Hotel Land in GBK

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Central Jakarta District Court has determined the implementation of the eviction execution for Block 15 in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, which is the site of the Sultan Hotel.

The determination issued on 30 April 2026 grants the request for the implementation of the eviction execution of Block 15, submitted by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) and the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK) through their legal representatives.

“The Central Jakarta District Court assesses that the request for the implementation of the eviction execution is in accordance with the law and therefore issues the determination for the implementation of the eviction execution,” stated the legal representative of Mensesneg and PPKGBK, Kharis Sucipto, in a PPKGBK press release confirmed by Kompas.com on Monday (4/5/2026).

Furthermore, according to him, the government’s legal position is now very strong and is not affected by other administrative legal efforts.

“The execution process will be carried out promptly after coordination with all relevant parties,” said Kharis.

“All execution procedures or stages, from aanmaning to constatering, have been duly completed, so it is only awaiting the realisation of the actual execution of Block 15,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Director of PPKGBK, Rakhmadi Afif Kusumo, assured that operations in the Block 15 GBK area will consider all aspects.

This includes the continuity of the fate of employees and vendors who have relied on their livelihoods on the land.

“The state is present not to kill businesses, but to reorganise this asset so that its benefits can be felt inclusively by the public in accordance with the constitutional mandate,” said Rakhmadi.

“While also restoring the state’s rights over unpaid royalty arrears that have been outstanding for decades,” added Rakhmadi.

Previously, on 16 March 2026, the government began measuring the land currently occupied by the Sultan Hotel in the GBK area.

The land measurement is the realisation of the constering decision by the Central Jakarta District Court.

For information, constering is the process of matching the physical and administrative data of the execution object (land/building) with the court’s final and binding decision.
