Report filed on aircraft company

BANDUNG: The Communications Forum of aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia submitted five reports on alleged corruption in the company to the Bandung prosecutor's office on Monday.

"We suspect that the graft took place before 1999 and cost hundreds of billions of rupiah in state losses," communications forum chairman Arif Minardi said.

Among the reported cases was the unaccounted-for down payment of Rp 16 billion plus US$254,000 which was disbursed by PT DI's subsidiary in the United States, PT Indonesia North America.

"We will study the reports first. We will set up a team this week to investigate these allegations," Chief Prosecutor Marwan Effendy said.

Meanwhile, spokesman for PT DI Rakhendi Triyatna argued that the alleged graft was "not proven."

"All of this time our company has been thoroughly audited by the Internal Supervision Unit (SPI), the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the Development Finance Controller (BPKP) and private auditor Ernest & Young and so far there has been no problem," Rakhendi said, adding that the company was striving to create conducive conditions for attracting investors.
