Renovation of Decent Housing Becomes Easier, Bank BJB Introduces Housing Stimulus Assistance
Owning a decent home remains a challenge for low-income communities. Limited funds and access to financing mean many residents must endure living in substandard homes.
In response to this issue, Bank BJB has launched the 2026 Self-Assisted Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) programme in West Java. The launch was held jointly with the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) and the West Java Provincial Government at SMAN 1 Katapang, Bandung Regency, on Thursday, 13 April 2026.
This programme forms part of a collaboration on housing financing and community economic empowerment. Through BSPS, the government encourages low-income communities (MBR) to improve Substandard Homes (RTLH) into decent, safe, and healthy ones, while also stimulating the local economy through the absorption of labour and the purchase of building materials.
This forum involves various stakeholders in the housing sector, banking, government, and developer associations to build an inclusive and sustainable financing ecosystem.
Several officials attended the event, including Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho, and 150 business actors comprising developers, builders, hardware stores, and UMKM players.
Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait stated that the housing financing programme not only serves to provide homes but also drives community economic growth and strengthens the role of micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM). She also appreciated Bank BJB’s commitment to supporting housing sector financing.
In the field, the benefits of this programme are already being felt by business actors. Alan, a building materials shop entrepreneur in Soreang, admitted that the credit application process at Bank BJB runs quickly and communicatively. “Alhamdulillah, the process is fast and the communication is smooth,” he said.
Another entrepreneur, Fitriah, is also applying for financing to develop her business. She mentioned that Bank BJB’s support opens opportunities for family business expansion, which has previously utilised bank credit. “I’m in the process of applying for KPP of Rp 1 billion. My parents are also customers financed by credit from Bank BJB. The business has now developed to own 14 rental rooms,” she said.
In this forum, Bank BJB also provided education on the importance of the Financial Services Information System (SLIK) of the OJK as the main instrument in assessing creditworthiness and maintaining community financial health. The material was presented by Bank BJB representative Taufik I Maulana, who explained the function of the service in building data transparency, minimising credit risk, and expanding financing opportunities.
Participants were given an understanding of the importance of maintaining credit collectibility, monitoring payment history, and correcting data if discrepancies are found in the financial information system.
Bank BJB also introduced the Integrated Community Economic Empowerment (PESAT) programme, which aims to increase the capacity and competence of business actors. This programme has been running since 2015 as part of support for UMKM development.
In addition, the regional bank of West Java-Banten opened consultation services at an information booth, making it easy for the public to obtain information on products or how to access financial services provided by Bank BJB.
In this event, Bank BJB recorded the formation of a financing pipeline for 118 customers with a total ceiling of Rp 52 billion. This achievement reflects the high interest of the community in Bank BJB’s financing products and trust in the services provided.
