Renong, Volvo join forces

MANILA (AFP): Malaysia's Renong Bhd. and a unit of Volvo AB
of Sweden have formed a joint venture with Philippine firms to
set up a bus transport system in Manila, the venture said in a
statement yesterday.

The joint venture includes Philtrak-Volvo PMS Inc., a
corporation composed of local firms and a local representative of
Volvo Asia.

The venture aims to construct a bus transport system complete
with loading and unloading stations, airconditioned coaches and
global satellite positioning for Manila, the group said in a
statement.

The system will be set up in a newly-opened major thoroughfare
in Manila and in other new corridors in the city, the group
said.
