Religious identification
Religious identification
From Kompas
It is appropriate to abolish the religious identification of an individual on their identity card. There are at least two things to be gained from this. First, the term agama KTP (meaning one is not really practicing the religion mentioned in the ID) would no longer be heard in the community. Second, the identity card would not be used as a means of discriminating against other people. It would be much nicer if an identity card merely offered proof of Indonesian nationality instead of becoming a means of separating one group from the other based on their religious beliefs.
If knowing the religion of someone is required for statistics purposes, this information should only be kept in the village office files.
