Rejecting terrorism

The Jakarta regional board of the Indonesian Christian
Intellectuals Association (PIKI), offering its condolences on the
death of innocent people in the recent incident in Poso, Central
Sulawesi, has issued the following statement.
* Condemning the perpetrators of the killings, which took place
on Oct. 10 and Oct. 12 in Poso.
* Regarding the murder as cowardly and inhuman.
* Appealing to all layers of society in Indonesia, especially in
Poso, to avoid provocation leading to division between Christians
and Muslims.
* Prioritizing and campaigning for peace to respect humanity and
reject terrorism.
* Demanding that the police take stern action against and bring
the perpetrators to justice.
* Demanding that the perpetrators using state facilities should
not trigger further communal conflict.
* Calling on the people of Poso and in other parts of Indonesia
to unite and promote peace.
* Requesting that religious leaders in Poso preach peace, unity
and solidarity.
* Requesting that international agencies assist in promoting
peace in line with the United Nations' human rights declaration.
