The Head of the Domestic Policy Strategy Agency (BSKDN) at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Yusharto Huntoyungo, has reminded local governments to be increasingly responsive in facing the dynamic challenges of unemployment. He conveyed this during the Head of Region Presentation event as part of the Appreciation of Local Government Performance in the dimension of reducing unemployment rates, held online from the BSKDN Command Center in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

According to Yusharto, unemployment is not merely a matter of statistical figures, but a reflection of development challenges that directly impact societal welfare. Therefore, quick, precise policy responses based on real field needs are required.

“We must realise that the challenges we face are not light. The dynamics of the global economy, changes in the labour market structure, and technological developments demand that we continuously adapt and improve the quality of our policies,” stated Yusharto.

Furthermore, Yusharto emphasised that local governments have a strategic role as the frontline in designing and implementing unemployment handling policies. With a closer understanding of regional characteristics and local potential, regions are expected to provide more targeted solutions.

Meanwhile, Yusharto also highlighted the importance of innovation in addressing employment challenges. Amid global economic changes and labour market transformations, regions are urged to continue innovating in creating jobs, improving the quality of human resources, and strengthening partnerships with the business and industrial worlds.

“In challenging situations, regions that can innovate will have an advantage in creating relevant and impactful solutions,” he asserted.
