Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian stated that regions in North Sumatra (Sumut) and West Sumatra (Sumbar) have gathered funds to assist with post-disaster recovery in Aceh. According to him, a total of Rp 287 billion has been collected, which will be channelled to areas that have not yet recovered.

Initially, Tito noted that there are around eight regions in Aceh that are still not recovered from the disaster. In fact, flooding and landslides are still occurring in those locations.

“From our analysis, there are regions in Aceh that are still severely affected—eight that are still severe. Aceh Tamiang, then Aceh Timur, then Aceh Utara, then Pidie Jaya, Bireuen, and in the mountainous areas as well that have been impacted,” said Tito in his speech at the Appreciation for High-Performing Local Governments event in Palembang City, South Sumatra, on Saturday (25/4/2026).

“We thought it was over, but flooding is still happening, landslides are occurring. Two days ago, there was another landslide,” said Tito.

Tito mentioned that there are grant donations from regions in Sumut and Sumbar, sourced from additional allocations of TKD received from the central government.

He stated that Aceh received Rp 260 billion in grants from local governments in Sumut. Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency each provided Rp 50 billion in aid. Meanwhile, Simalungun Regency and Asahan Regency each contributed Rp 30 billion.

Serdang Bedagai Regency, Labuhan Batu Selatan Regency, Pematang Siantar City, and Labuhan Batu Regency each contributed Rp 25 billion.

“Last week in Banda Aceh, we symbolically held an agreement between local leaders. We only facilitated inter-regional grants, so from North Sumatra, alhamdulillah, Rp 260 billion for Aceh. It just needs to be monitored,” said Tito.

Then, Tito said he had coordinated with local leaders in Sumbar to do something similar. Thus, Rp 27 billion was collected for Aceh. Pariaman City, Sawahlunto City, Sijunjung Regency, Pesisir Selatan Regency, Bukittinggi City, Lima Puluh Kota Regency, and Kepulauan Mentawai Regency each contributed Rp 1 billion.

In addition, Dharmasraya Regency and Pasaman Barat Regency each contributed Rp 1.5 billion. Meanwhile, Solok City, Solok Selatan City, and Solok Regency each contributed Rp 2 billion.

Payakumbuh City and Padang Panjang City each contributed Rp 3 billion. Meanwhile, Padang City contributed Rp 5 billion.

“Total Rp 27 billion from West Sumatra for Aceh, which we will pair with the severely affected regions in Aceh. Even though there is already from Mr Bobby (Governor of Sumut) and his team,” said Tito.

Tito expressed thanks to the local leaders in Sumut and Sumbar who provided grants for post-disaster repairs in Aceh.

“The total aid from the two provinces amounts to Rp 287 billion; hopefully, this can help Aceh recover more quickly. We will monitor the mechanism; it’s direct from region to region, grants between regions from account to account,” he said.

After Tito read out the details of the grants, a signing ceremony was held for statements of willingness to provide financial aid from regencies/cities across West Sumatra Province to disaster-affected regencies/cities in Aceh Province. Each local leader from Sumbar was called to the stage to sign the statement, witnessed by Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian and West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah.
