Regent Sanjaya Rebukes RSUD Tabanan Board of Directors Over Drug Shortage
Regent Tabanan I Komang Gede Sanjaya has rebuked the board of directors of Tabanan Regional General Hospital (RSUD) following the emergence of drug shortage problems at the Type B hospital. Sanjaya stressed that technology must not be used as an excuse that impacts public health services.
The stern warning was delivered by Sanjaya following a meeting at the Tabanan Regional Parliament Building on Wednesday (11 March 2026). He stated that he had summoned the RSUD Tabanan board of directors to request clarification regarding the matter.
According to him, service to the public must be the top priority and administrative issues must not be allowed to disrupt health services.
“I already understand what the problem is. But technology should not be used as an excuse. We can simply assign competent people to handle such matters. That is why I have already issued a stern warning to prevent similar incidents from occurring,” Sanjaya asserted firmly.
Sanjaya affirmed that the drug shortage at RSUD Tabanan has now been resolved following coordination with the hospital and BPJS.
“This serves as a lesson for all of us that everything is now technology-based with the aim of achieving accuracy and transparency. Hopefully it will proceed smoothly,” he said.
Constrained by BPJS Claims System Transition
Previously, the drug shortage at RSUD Tabanan occurred because the hospital was unable to process BPJS claim disbursements due to the transition from manual to digital systems.
As a result, thousands of claim files still had to be reorganised in order for BPJS disbursements to be processed.
This problem had an impact on hospital operations because BPJS claim funds are used to support operational activities, including one of the key areas: pharmaceutical purchases.
