The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation in Pekalongan, Central Java, at the beginning of this week. Among those detained and brought to Jakarta for further investigation was Regent Fadia Arafiq.

On Tuesday (3 March), the KPK sealed Fadia’s office in the Pekalongan Local Government complex.

“Confirmed, in this closed investigation activity, the team detained several parties in Pekalongan, Central Java, including the regent,” said KPK Spokesman Budi Prasetyo when contacted on Tuesday (3 March) morning.

Budi stated that those detained by investigators were brought to Jakarta for further examination.

“The team then brought them to Jakarta for further investigation,” he said.

However, Budi did not provide further details about the parties detained for questioning and the alleged corruption cases being handled.

The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those ensnared in the sting operation. At present, those detained remain under investigation.

According to detikJateng, the entrance to the regent’s office, which displays Fadia’s photograph, has been sealed by the KPK. Two doors have been sealed with white and red paper stickers inscribed “UNDER KPK SUPERVISION.” The KPK logo and the date 3-3-2026 appear on the seals, along with the investigator’s signature.

Similar markings have been found in several departmental head offices, including the Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning (DPU Taru). Additionally, KPK seals are visible on the office of the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Pekalongan.

Meanwhile, the office of Deputy Regent Sukirman did not appear to be sealed. When asked for confirmation, Sukirman claimed he was unaware of the sting operation in his region, let alone that the Regent had been ensnared.

“No, no (I didn’t know). Let me check first. I don’t know,” he told detikJateng.

Similarly, regarding the sealing of several departmental offices, Sukirman stated he had not received information about it.

“No, no (no report). There’s no information (yet),” he added.
