The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) moved quickly following a sting operation (operasi tangkap tangan) conducted in Pekalongan Regency. In addition to bringing Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq to Jakarta, investigators from the anti-corruption agency also examined several officials at the level of section heads and departmental heads within the Pekalongan Regency administration.

Based on observations on Tuesday 3 February, the atmosphere at the Pekalongan Regency Office appeared increasingly quiet, though routine employee activities remained visible, including the presence of Deputy Regent Sukirman.

A striking sight was observed in the car park of the Pekalongan City Police Station. Several official vehicles bearing red number plates belonging to the Pekalongan Regency administration were parked from the morning. These vehicles were believed to belong to officials undergoing questioning.

Inside the vehicles, official attributes remained visible, including bags, caps bearing the Pekalongan Regency logo, and white service uniforms hanging inside.

Iptu Purno Utomo, Head of the Public Relations Section at Pekalongan City Police Station, confirmed the presence of KPK investigators at the station. “It is correct that there is an examination by the KPK of several Pekalongan Regency employees; they are being questioned in the hall and command post on the second floor of the police station,” said Iptu Purno Utomo.

However, police officials emphasised they were merely facilitating the venue. “I do not know who is being questioned,” he added, stressing that the police station was only lending space and providing security.

On the other hand, Deputy Regent Sukirman continued working at his office as usual. His office was not sealed by the investigation team. When asked about the sting operation that ensnared Regent Fadia Arafiq, Sukirman claimed he had not received a comprehensive report. “I do not yet know, as I have not received a report on this since arriving at the office this morning,” said the PKB politician.

Regarding which locations became targets of KPK seals within the Secretariat of Regional Government, Sukirman stated he would conduct further checks. “I will check first, I do not yet know,” he concluded.

This constitutes the eighth operation conducted by the KPK in the first three months of 2026. The KPK sealed several office facilities within the Pekalongan Regency Government following the sting operation against Regent Fadia Arafiq.
