Reform and the little people

Reform and the little people

From Sinar Pagi

The reform generated by students has led the little people to
feel they might expect better days ahead.

But present conditions have made them doubt what use the
reform is. Life is not getting any better, it is even harder now.
The economy has gone awry. The ongoing reform has gone astray.
The reform was heralded by the students with a view to enforcing
overall justice and truth. The students wanted the leaders to
uphold moral values and to have authority in running the
government. Has this been achieved?

If I am allowed to speak honestly, all that is a nightmare.
Damage, destruction, looting, arson and killing. Doesn't that all
show that the actors of reform do not uphold moral values? They
look like barbaric people. If we asked them for their
accountability none of them would give it. They would accuse each
other. To whom must the little people complain?

Let us introspect and reflect. A victory with bloodshed and
destruction is not a complete success. With our moral and
religious values we certainly need to carry out the religious
principles in which we believe. We must realize that the majority
of victims are our brothers and sisters of the same faith. It is
a great sin to shed their blood.

Let us reflect deeply. Let our conscience speak. Stop less
laudable deeds if we desire to become better men. We all wish a
change but it must benefit all sides. It should not be based on
our or our group's dissatisfaction only.

We want our economy to be restored immediately but we must
understand that it takes time to do it. Give the Development and
Reform Cabinet a chance to solve the problems. We need quiet and
unity.

I would like to appeal to experts, religious dignitaries,
politicians, economists and society in general to unite in
solving the problems by clear thinking. Let us support reform as
generated by students with pure objectives.

I would ask opportunistic politicians to quit the arena of
reform. Their victims are numerous. The people do not trust them
any longer and have come to realize that what the opportunists
struggle for is out of individual or group interest.

We support peaceful reform and we wish to see the eradication
of adventurers who only seek benefits from other people's
sufferings.
