Rector flooded with memos
SEMARANG, Central Java: Rector of the Diponegoro University Muladi said he has been overwhelmed with memos from parents who want their children to be admitted into the college.
"There are no less than 100 letters piling on my desks from civil servants, businessmen and officials... I will not bother to grant their requests," he said as quoted by Antara.
He said some of the writers promise rewards if he "helps" their relatives be admitted into the prestigious state university.
The university has formed a special team which consists of academics of high integrity in charge of handling the admission of new students.
"I have no authority to intervene," he said. (pan)
