SINGAPORE (AFP): Senior finance officials from 14 Asia-Pacific nations will meet here this weekend to discuss ways of managing Asia's recovery from financial crisis.
The two-day meeting beginning Sunday is the fifth since a framework was set up in Manila in November 1997 to discuss a response to the Asian financial turmoil which erupted four months earlier.
"The meeting will hold regional economic surveillance discussions, focusing on managing the recovery process and reform of the international financial architecture," a statement from the Monetary Authority of Singapore said.
It will bring together officials from Australia, Brunei, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and the United States.
Senior representatives from the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank would also attend the talks.
