PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk has reminded holiday returnees heading back to the Jabotabek area not to neglect ensuring sufficient e-toll balance before starting their journey. This advisory comes after an evaluation of the Lebaran 2026 mudik and return traffic flows, specifically during the period from H-10 to H+1 of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, or 11–22 March 2026. The evaluation results showed that many toll road users still ran out of e-toll balance at toll gates. At Gerbang Tol (GT) Kalikangkung on the Batang–Semarang section, approximately 21,000 vehicles had to top up on site due to insufficient balance. This number equates to about 4.9 percent of the total 442,000 vehicles that passed through that toll gate during the period. PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk President Director, Rivan A. Purwantono, explained that this situation led to increased vehicle queues. According to him, a similar situation could occur again during the return flow, particularly at GT Cikampek Utama, a crucial point leading to Jakarta. Therefore, road users are asked to anticipate their journey by ensuring their e-toll balance is sufficient before entering the toll road. This step is deemed important to maintain smooth traffic flow and avoid vehicle build-ups at toll gates. For the journey from Semarang to Jakarta, especially for Class I vehicles, Jasa Marga recommends a minimum balance of Rp 500,000. Jasa Marga assesses that if thousands of vehicles top up at toll gates like Cikampek Utama, travel time will be extended as users queue just to refill their balance. Therefore, road users are urged to regularly check their e-toll balance before travelling, especially during the Lebaran return period, which is characterised by a surge in vehicle volume. Additionally, road users are reminded that in the closed transaction system on the Trans Java Toll Road, where tariffs are calculated based on distance, the e-toll card used upon entry must be the same as the one used upon exit. This means users cannot switch to someone else’s card if the balance is insufficient during the journey.
