Jakarta, VIVA – The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance, through its Director of Outreach, Services, and Public Relations, Inge Diana Rismawanti, has warned the public to remain vigilant against the growing number of fraud cases involving perpetrators impersonating tax officials or DJP representatives.

She explained that fraudsters frequently exploit current tax-related issues as part of their schemes, such as the integration of National Identity Numbers (NIK) with Taxpayer Identification Numbers (NPWP), tax data confirmation, the implementation of the Coretax DJP application, and even rumours of transfers or promotions of DJP officials and staff.

“The DJP once again reminds the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes carried out in the name of DJP Officials/Staff,” said Inge in a statement on Monday, 16 February 2026.

She explained that one common method used by fraudsters involves contacting potential victims through WhatsApp and requesting them to download files in .apk format.

Other methods include sending links to download a counterfeit M-Pajak application, or similarly contacting victims via WhatsApp to make various demands. These include requests concerning settlement of tax bills, processing of tax overpayment refunds (restitution), and payment of electronic stamp duty through unofficial links.

“They telephone members of the public and request money transfers whilst impersonating DJP Officials/Staff,” she said.

Inge advised that members of the public who receive such requests should verify the information through official DJP channels, including the nearest tax office, the Kring Pajak hotline at 1500200, email at pengaduan@pajak.go.id, the X account @kring_pajak, the website pengaduan.pajak.go.id, and the live chat service at www.pajak.go.id.

Furthermore, Inge encouraged the public to report suspected fraud through the channels provided by the Ministry of Communications and Digital (Komdigi).

“This can be done through the aduannomor.id website for reporting fraudulent telephone numbers, or aduankonten.id for reporting fraudulent content, links, and applications,” she said.
