South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho has affirmed his commitment to working in synergy with other agencies on law enforcement and the maintenance of public order during the Ramadan Safari 1447 H. The initiative involves the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) of South Sumatra.

The event was held at Al-Adli Mosque within the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office on Monday (23/2/2026). The Police Chief emphasised that security stability during Ramadan is the top priority for the South Sumatra Regional Police.

“Every potential threat to public order, social conflict, thuggery, narcotics distribution, and street crime will be dealt with in accordance with prevailing legal provisions,” he said.

Ramadan is a period during which public activity increases significantly. Accordingly, the South Sumatra Regional Police is strengthening joint patrols, securing places of worship, conducting early detection of potential conflicts, and ensuring rapid response to public reports.

In his remarks, South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru expressed his appreciation to all Forkopimda members for their continued solidarity. He affirmed that security stability is the primary foundation for regional development.

“Strong synergy between the regional government, the military, the police, and all stakeholders is the key to realising South Sumatra Zero Conflict. Stability is an absolute prerequisite for sustainable development and public welfare,” Herman stated.

Following up on this, the South Sumatra Police Chief assured that a preventive approach would remain the priority, though repressive action would be carried out swiftly, proportionately, and transparently should any legal violations be found.

South Sumatra Regional Police Public Relations Head Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya said the Zero Conflict commitment is being realised through concrete measures on the ground.

“The South Sumatra Police Chief has affirmed that there is no room for those who attempt to disrupt security stability during Ramadan. Law enforcement will be carried out professionally and proportionately to guarantee public safety,” Nandang said.

He added that the South Sumatra Regional Police has instructed all district police units to increase night patrols, surveillance of vulnerable spots, and cross-sector coordination to prevent the escalation of social conflicts.

The Ramadan Safari event, which began with congregational Isya prayers, a religious sermon, and communal tarawih prayers, was also attended by South Sumatra Regional Legislative Council Chairman Andie Dinialdie, Sriwijaya Military Command II Commander Major General Ujang Darwis, and South Sumatra High Prosecutor Ketut Sumedana.
