Ramadan Safari in Riau: National Police Chief Calls on Citizens to Maintain Unity Against Global Challenges
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo concluded his working visit to Riau Province by holding a Ramadan safari with various community elements at Riau Regional Police Headquarters. During the occasion, General Sigit called upon all layers of society to continue strengthening unity amidst global dynamics.
General Sigit explained that the Ramadan safari was part of the National Police’s road show to enhance fellowship and solidarity with religious leaders, customary leaders, academics, students, and labour and online motorcycle taxi driver communities. He also conveyed a message that unity and cohesion must continue to be championed.
“In this democracy, freedom of opinion and expression are part of the dynamics that the police maintain. However, I urge that things which divide the nation must not infiltrate us. We must unite to guide Indonesia into becoming an advanced nation,” General Sigit said to journalists on Tuesday (17 March 2026). He spoke accompanied by Riau Regional Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan.
General Sigit reminded that Indonesia is currently experiencing a demographic dividend momentum that must be leveraged to bring Indonesia into the ranks of the world’s largest economies. “We must prepare the quality of human resources to manage our natural wealth for future generations,” he added.
Regarding the uncertain international situation, the National Police Chief ensured that the government under President Prabowo Subianto continues to conduct mitigation so that the global crisis does not have extreme impacts on domestic stability. He called on society to remain vigilant and support government programmes in maintaining economic growth.
“Whatever the government is doing now is an effort to ensure that amidst the global crisis, Indonesia’s economy continues to grow towards a just and prosperous society,” he asserted.
Specifically, the National Police Chief expressed appreciation to Riau Regional Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan, who has established a Forest Fire Prevention Task Force and embraced online motorcycle taxi driver communities within the Precision Order and Security Motorcycle Taxi framework. This innovation was considered a concrete step in community policing to maintain order and security.
“Thank you, Chief, for establishing the forest fire prevention task force to address industrial issues and bringing along online motorcycle taxi driver colleagues to become part of the ‘Order and Security Belt’. The National Police continues to build partnerships so that order and security stability is maintained as the primary capital for development,” concluded General Sigit.
The Ramadan Safari event was also attended by Head of DPR Commission IV Siti Hediati Hariyadi, also known as Titiek Soeharto, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, and the ranks of regional leadership coordination forums. The event concluded with the distribution of assistance to orphans and breaking of the fast together.
