The Regional Police Chief of South Sumatra (Sumsel), Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, conducted a Ramadan outreach visit to the Banyuasin district. Sandi called on residents to remain united in safeguarding public order and security (kamtibmas).

The activity was held at Banyuasin Police Headquarters on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. In his remarks, the Police Chief emphasised that his presence in Banyuasin was not merely a routine Ramadan outreach visit, but also an opportunity to strengthen bonds and reinforce brotherhood with the community.

“We are here not only for the Ramadan outreach, but also to draw closer, be accepted, and become known by the people of Banyuasin,” the Police Chief said.

Sandi emphasised that a safe and conducive public order and security situation cannot be maintained by the police alone. He stressed that the active participation of all community elements is a key factor in creating regional stability.

“Without assistance, support, and cooperation from the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, religious leaders, community figures, youth leaders, and all components of the nation, certainly the police would not be able to work to the maximum,” he asserted.

The Police Chief also warned that amid global dynamics and various emerging challenges, the district needs collective strength to maintain stability and social peace.

“The key is simple: solidarity, cooperation, partnership, and collaboration across all sectors. Whatever problems arise, God willing, we can resolve them together,” Sandi said.

Sandi called on all residents of Banyuasin to maintain the secure situation that has been well-preserved thus far so that social life, economic activities, education, and religious worship of the community can continue comfortably.

“Let us jointly guard the security and order in our respective areas. Those areas already secure, let us make them even more secure,” he said.

Meanwhile, Banyuasin Regent Askolani expressed appreciation for the visit of the South Sumatra Police Chief to Banyuasin District during the Ramadan outreach. He stated that the activity strengthens relations between the community and stakeholders in Banyuasin.

“We extend a welcome and our appreciation to the South Sumatra Police Chief for this working visit during the Ramadan outreach in Banyuasin District. His presence is an honour and source of pride for the regional government and the people of Banyuasin,” Askolani said.

The Ramadan outreach was attended by approximately 1,000 worshippers comprising personnel from Banyuasin Police and community members. Accompanying the South Sumatra Police Chief were the Intelligence and Security Director, Senior Commissioner Tony Budhi Susetyo, the Narcotics Director, Senior Commissioner Yulian Perdana, the Traffic Director, Senior Commissioner Maesa Soegriwo, the Community Relations Director, Senior Commissioner Hari Purnomo, and the Professional Standards Bureau Head, Senior Commissioner Raden Azis Safiri.

Also present were Banyuasin Deputy Regent Netta Indian, Banyuasin Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Risnan Aldino and his staff, Banyuasin Military District Commander Lieutenant Colonel Handoyo Yudi Prasetyo, representatives of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, heads of regional government agencies, the Chair of the Islamic Council of Banyuasin Syamsu Rihal, as well as religious figures, community leaders, youth representatives, and Islamic scholars from Banyuasin District.
