Ramadan becomes momentum for promoting inclusive economy for people with disabilities
Jakarta – Ramadan has become an opportune moment for various institutions and companies to increase their social activities whilst strengthening their contribution to society. Beyond demonstrating corporate concern, such activities are also viewed as capable of fostering a more inclusive economic ecosystem, particularly for vulnerable groups that have historically faced limited access to various economic and social opportunities.
In the context of inclusive economic development, the involvement of various stakeholders, including state-owned enterprises (SOEs), is important to ensure that development benefits reach society more broadly.
One group receiving particular attention is people with disabilities, who continue to face various challenges in obtaining equal opportunities across diverse sectors.
In this regard, Danareksa Holding BUMN, together with all its holding members, has distributed 1,000 Ramadan assistance packages specifically targeted at communities of people with disabilities. The aid was distributed simultaneously across five cities: Jakarta, Pasuruan, Demak, Makassar, and Medan.
This activity forms part of the Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) programme implemented by the holding, with involvement from various holding members. The programme aligns with the government’s development agenda, which emphasises the equitable distribution of social welfare and the strengthening of human resources.
“As a holding oriented towards value creation and welfare, we orchestrate all holding members so that the social initiatives we undertake have greater scale and measurable impact,” stated Corporate Secretary of Danareksa Holding BUMN, Agus Widjaja, according to a press release.
The programme involves various holding members, including PT Kawasan Industri Medan, PT Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (Perseroda), PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara, PT Kawasan Industri Wijayakusuma, PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang, PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut, PT Kawasan Industri Makassar, PT Nindya Karya, PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset, PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia, PT Jalin Pembayaran Nusantara, PT Danareksa Finance, PT Danareksa Capital, and PT Balai Pustaka.
The selection of these five cities represents the broad operational reach of holding members across various regions of Indonesia. To ensure targeted aid distribution, the assistance was channelled in partnership with Alunjiva, an organisation that oversees the disability empowerment movement in Indonesia.
