Jakarta — Several regional governments are strengthening market surveillance and intervention to ensure the availability and stability of essential commodity prices throughout Ramadan and up to the Eid al-Fitr holidays in 2026.

In Garut Regency, West Java, the local government continues to monitor food stock and prices in public markets through the Market and Essential Needs Monitoring System (SP2KP). Ridwan Efendy, Head of the Industrial, Trade and Mineral Energy Resources Office (Disperindag ESDM) of Garut Regency, ensured that food supplies remain secure through to Eid al-Fitr.

“We are ensuring that food stocks for Garut residents through to Eid al-Fitr remain safe,” he said in Garut on Saturday.

All public markets, including Guntur Ciawitali Central Market, are subject to intensive monitoring. Based on coordination with Bulog, rice stocks in warehouses are reported as adequate. Approximately 7,090 tonnes of rice in 50-kilogramme packages and 12.6 tonnes of rice under the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation Programme (SPHP) are ready for distribution to markets.

Beyond ensuring availability, Garut Regency also monitors distribution schemes to keep prices stable. For subsidised cooking oil under the MinyaKita scheme, distribution is carried out through direct supply channels in accordance with Trade Ministry Regulation No. 43 of 2025, namely directly from Bulog and ID Food to retail traders in public markets.

“This direct supply scheme aims to eliminate distribution chains to keep prices stable,” said Ridwan.

Price control measures are further strengthened through cheap market operations, the establishment of a Task Force for Clean Sweeps of Price, Safety and Food Quality Violations under the Food Security Office, and spot checks to markets. The public is urged not to make excessive purchases and to report any prices exceeding the maximum retail price (HET).

Similar measures are being implemented in East Java. The East Java Regional Police Food Task Force ensures that MinyaKita stocks and distribution remain secure until Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. Roy H.M. Sihombing, Director of Special Criminal Investigation at East Java Police, stated that selling prices in markets remain stable and in line with the HET.

According to Bulog data, 6 million litres of MinyaKita have been distributed, with remaining stock of 2.7 million litres ready for distribution to 160 markets across East Java. However, the Task Force has identified technical obstacles in the form of several traders who have not yet obtained a Business Identification Number (NIB), which is a mandatory requirement for receiving distribution.

Following the directive of East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, the Industrial and Trade Office and the Investment and Single-Window Integrated Service Office at the district/city level will facilitate assistance for traders in completing NIB paperwork to ensure distribution continues smoothly.
