Raid in North Jakarta as police arrest two men found in possession of narcotics
Jakarta – The Pademangan Police Sector arrested two men identified as RA and IDA after they were found in possession of methamphetamine during a raid in Pademangan, North Jakarta, on Friday. ‘They were arrested while we were conducting a stationary raid operation, with narcotics evidence weighing 0.32 grams,’ said Pademangan Police Chief AKP Daniel Dirgala in Jakarta on Friday. He said the two suspects are currently being questioned at the Pademangan Police Station for further investigation. The pair were apprehended as officers conducted an Enhanced Routine Patrol (KRYD), accompanied by a stationary raid operation. The activities were conducted to anticipate disturbances of public order and to support the ‘Jaga Lingkungan’ programme to create a secure and conducive situation in the jurisdiction of the Pademangan Police, North Jakarta, in the early hours of Friday. During the operation, joint personnel conducted mobile patrols, dialogic patrols, and stationary raid operations at several high-risk points. Patrolled locations included the Permata Ancol complex on Jalan Budi Mulia, the Pasar Nalo KRL crossing on Jalan RE Martadinata, the Alexis junction, the Three Pillars Joint Post and Potmas Kampung Bandan, the Gunung Sahari Tunnel, and Plaza Maspion. In addition to area patrols, officers also carried out stationary raid operations at the border between Pademangan and Central Jakarta, specifically on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Ancol Sub-district, Pademangan, North Jakarta. Officers targeted locations commonly used as gathering spots for youths prone to brawls, routes commonly used for illegal street racing by motorcycle gangs, and other crime hotspots such as street theft and robbery with violence. Additionally, officers conducted foot patrols in residential areas, while issuing public-safety advisories urging residents to always use a double-lock on vehicles and to maintain community security together. The Pademangan Police emphasised its commitment to increasing preventive activities to maintain security and public order in North Jakarta. They instructed all personnel to remain on standby at anti-brawling posts after the patrols concluded, particularly during hours when crimes such as violence, illegal racing, or clashes between residents are more likely to occur,’ Daniel said.
