Radarsat leaders due here
JAKARTA (JP): Executives from Radarsat International Inc. (RSI) of Vancouver, Canada, and several Canadian firms engaged in satellite data utilization, application and analysis, will start a three-day visit here next Tuesday.
A statement issued by the Canadian Embassy here said yesterday that RSI, in conjunction with the Agency for Technology Assessment and Application, PT Bhumi Prasaja and the embassy, will hold a road show on Tuesday to discuss Indonesian geomatics requirements.
Last November, Canada launched the Synthetic Aperture Radar, or Radarsat, satellite which utilizes powerful microwave instrumentation to enable it to "see" through clouds and darkness and to obtain detailed images of the earth regardless of ground level weather conditions.
The Canadian and Indonesian governments will also sign an agreement authorizing the introduction of remote sensing technology for the environmental management of Indonesia's coastal and maritime regions.
RSI recently finished a contract with PT Mapindo Parama to supply 250 Radarsat images of Indonesia. (pwn)
