Questioned, Jogja Special Needs School Teacher Accused of Harassment Not Yet Named as a Suspect
An educator at a special needs school (SLB) in Jogja accused of sexually harassing a female student has been questioned by police. Nevertheless, officers have not yet named a suspect in the case, which has entered the investigative stage.
Satreskrim Polresta Jogja head Kompol Riski Adrian explained that the teacher, who remains a reportable witness (terlapor) but has the status of a witness (saksi), attended the examination on Thursday, 5 March. ‘The accused has already come to fulfil the witness summons,’ Riski said when contacted on Friday, 6 March 2026. However, investigators have yet to name a suspect as several documents need to be completed before a formal case conference.
‘We are still waiting for the HPP (hasil pemeriksaan psikolog) from the relevant department. After that, we will convene the case conference, and only then name a suspect. The HPP is to determine the victim’s statements,’ he said.
Earlier, Riski said the police had questioned five witnesses in the investigation on Friday, 27 February. In addition to questioning witnesses, the police also interviewed the victim. Examinations included a forensic visit to determine whether the victim experienced acts beyond the alleged sexual harassment. A psychological assessment was also conducted on the victim. Riski targeted the results of these two examinations to be released within the week.
‘Yesterday we also had the victim undergo a medical examination to see whether there were acts beyond the alleged sexual harassment,’ Riski said on Monday, 2 March 2026. ‘We are also awaiting the psychologist results from the UPTD PPA. It seems these results will be released this week,’ he added.
Riski noted that authorities have not yet named a suspect because they are still gathering evidence. ‘Not yet naming a suspect; we are still collecting evidence. For the exhibits, we have seized those related to the incident,’ he explained.
Satreskrim Polresta Jogja had already elevated the case of alleged sexual harassment against the SLB student to the investigation stage. ‘We questioned five witnesses; yesterday we held a case conference and moved the process to the investigation stage,’ Riski said when he was seen in the Malioboro area on Wednesday, 25 February. In this process, all parties questioned remained as witnesses, including the reported person, namely the teacher. The move to the investigation stage occurred because police found elements of criminality in the case. ‘We believe there is a criminal act involved, which is why we pushed the case to the investigation stage. The first round of witness summons in the investigation is scheduled for Friday,’ he said. ‘Because there were actions previously taken by the school, which were clarified between the school and the suspect. And from witness statements there is indeed an admission,’ he added.
