JAKARTA – The Chairman of House of Representatives Commission XI, Mukhamad Misbakhun, is encouraging micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) actors to utilise the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) as part of strengthening competitiveness in the digital era.

He views the digitalisation of payment systems as an inevitability amid the increasingly rapid development of technology.

According to Misbakhun, Bank Indonesia (BI) has pioneered and introduced QRIS as a practical, secure, and efficient solution to support public transactions, including those of MSME actors.

The event was also attended by the Chairman of the Bank Indonesia Supervisory Board (BSBI), M Nawir Messi, as well as BSBI members Irwan Lubis and Mohamad Khusaini.

The activity was participated in by MSME actors in Pasuruan Regency as part of the socialisation of QRIS usage.

In his presentation, Misbakhun explained that QRIS, launched on 17 August 2019, will continue to evolve.

He believes that expanding the reach of QRIS can enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian MSMEs, including in accessing global markets.

“With the wider adoption of QRIS, we hope that MSMEs in the regions, including in Pasuruan Regency, can be more connected to the digital economic ecosystem and leverage greater market opportunities,” said Misbakhun.

In addition to encouraging utilisation, Misbakhun also emphasised the security aspect of QRIS usage. He assured MSME actors that they do not need to worry about the security of digital transactions.

According to him, BI as the monetary authority continues to build an inclusive yet secure digital payment ecosystem.

QRIS is considered a payment system that suits Indonesian conditions, both in terms of infrastructure and transaction protection.

“QRIS also provides convenience and security in transacting. The public no longer needs to rely on cash, thus minimising the risks of loss or errors in transactions,” stated Misbakhun.
